Golf Course Issues Highlight Wednesday's Agenda

By Staff Reports On 07.04.09

golfcourse
The driving range at the Championship Golf Course still has snow on the fairways. The Championship Course is expected to open May 20 and the Mountain Course is slated to open May 15, weather permitting.

The Golf Course cancellation policy will be brought before the Incline Village General Improvement District Board of Trustees during the board’s meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the IVGID administrative offices.

The staff recommendations include a 72-hour cancellation policy for golf club tournaments, the Wednesday/Tuesday Golf Club maintenance day shotgun, and for regular tee times.

According to the IVGID board packet, found on the website, www.ivgid.org, the goal is to maintain 26,000 rounds of golf this year and possibly increase to 28,000 rounds.

The Golf Club’s usage has dropped in the past three years, with only Incline Village Golf Club increasing usage by 2.9 percent, while Teesters is down 6.5 percent and TIGC down by 14.91 percent. The total allocation in 2008 was 6,080 rounds, of which 67.6 percent were used.

Ever dreamed of doing the entire Tahoe Rim Trail?

By Staff Reports On 24.03.09

desolationtrt
The Tahoe Rim Trail leads through Desolation Wilderness.

This could be the year for you to backpack the entire 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail! The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is now accepting applications for the 2009 Annual Thru Hike. This 15-day backpacking trip will begin on July 25 or 26 and end on Aug. 8 or 9.

This is truly a unique opportunity to do a “supported” 15-day backpacking trip on the Tahoe Rim Trail. There will be two groups of 15 people, and each group will have two to three experienced guides and some truly remarkable views along the way. One thing that sets this backpacking trip apart from others is the amazing support the hikers will receive. The support comes from “Trail Angels” that appear every one to three days with food, fuel and water. Trail Angels also reward hikers with cold beer, warm pizza and lots of other scrumptious treats along the way.

This is the ninth year the Tahoe Rim Trail Association has offered the Thru Hike.  The Thru Hike is life-changing and has left many with life-long memories and great friendships. This event is also the TRTA’s largest fundraising effort, and the $1,750 from each participant directly contributes to the education, outreach and programs that are offered each year.

Space is limited. Registration is now available online for the Thru Hike at www.tahoerimtrail.org. For more information or questions please call Emily Williams at (775) 298-0231 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
