Washoe County holds town hall meeting seeking input on superintendent search

The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees met with teachers and community members Monday evening at Incline High School to get feedback and comments on the district's search for a replacement for Paul Dugan who is retiring efective August 1, 2009.

The town hall meeting focused on the superintendent search and the specific type of individual needed to handle the many issues facing the school district. Jim Huge, a consultant to the board, led the informal discussion  along with Washoe County School District Board of Trustees Dan Carne, Ken Grein and Barbara L. McLaury.

The district has set up a special email account to receive comments and suggestions. Residents who are unable to attend one of the town halls will be able to express themselves via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Tickets to high school musical on sale now

Tickets are on sale now to the Incline High School musical to be presented March 18-21.
 
“Lost Horizon” is the story of a hidden paradise at the top of the world. When a plane crashes nearby, the survivors are rescued and taken to Shangri-la. As the story unfolds, each one must make the decision whether to stay in the utopian society or leave for their former lives in the world.
 
The musical will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, March 18, 19, 20 and at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, in the high school's Little Theater. Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for students and kids. Tickets can be purchased at The Potlatch or Incline High School.
 
Incline High School has presented a successful string of musicals in the past few years, including "Annie get your gun," "Cinderella," "The Wizard of Oz," and last year's "Oliver."
 
Straying from traditional Broadway shows, “Lost Horizon” features music by Burt Bacharach and lyrics by Hal David. The play is adapted from a 1937 screenplay by Robert Riskin, which was taken from the book, Lost Horizon by James Hilton.
The musical will be performed by high school students, as well as 18 students from the Incline Elementary 3-5 School.
 
 

Middle school dance is March 20

The IVGID Middle School Dance will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, at the Chateau, 955 Fairway Blvd. The theme is "Get your green on - St. Patty's Day style." All Incline Middle School and Lake Tahoe School middle school students are welcome to attend. Students must have school Id to enter the dance.

Middle school parents invited to comment on task force

A meeting for parents of Incline Middle School students about the Incline Schools Reflective Task Force has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in room 103 at IMS. Lionel Pober, the middle school representative on the task force, is holding the meeting for parents of IMS students who wish to provide input to issues relevant to the task force.
